Can anyone recommend a source for a nice, even linen? It doesn't have to be super thin, just not too stubbly.

Last weekend was the 3rd annual francaise dinner party. Our hostess out did herself again. The room was much more intimate, and everyone looked stunning.
So, as it tradition, I tried once again to make an 18th century evening gown, and once again it's green( don't ask me why, it just keeps happening). I think it turned out ok, the font opening ( Read more... )

Number 1 wasn't worth showing anyone. It was the recommended size, but way too big. I re cut it two sizes smaller and tried again. It's semi-boned and laced just tight enough to fit the body since it disentangle have metal grommets in it yet. I think it looks and feels pretty good.

Thank you all for the advice. I have some thinking to do before my next dress. Luckily I have some time to work it out. First is a compleat revamp of my Victorian wardrobe, starting with the corset. I dyed the the fabric yesterday. I tested it first, and no matter what concentration I used, I could only get bubblegum pink and light baby pink. So I went with the light. And it was too light. You could barely tell it was pink. So today I tried again, with a recipe I found online. This was a mix or red snd orange, dyed over the pink.

Beleive it or not, I've actually been doing some sewing! Soon I might actually have a court gown. I worked for about a day, and this is what I have so far.
